Ignatius Piazza is Arming the Skies

Dr. Ignatius Piazza is the founder and director of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. In 1988, he was the victim of a drive-by shooting. While he was uninjured, his neighborhood was shot up by the band of miscreants and anti-socials who decided that they would take it upon themselves to ruin that which represented a devotion to hard work and an ethical life. It was at this time that Dr. Piazza realized that while he was a gun enthusiast and not a bad marksman, he had never received firearms training that would have given him the necessary tools to turn a home invasion around. It was at this realization that he set out to not only inform himself of how to keep himself safe, but also to train all of America in safe, effective, responsible gun use. Years later, and thousands of hours of training after this decision, he became the world's second Four Weapons Combat Master, more than qualified to run a firearms training facility.

Now, after the September 11th terrorist attack, Dr. Piazza is back on his soap box, saying precisely what he's been saying for years. But he's not the only one. Featured in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, an American Airlines pilot, Keith Shankland, is calling for the training and arming of all commercial pilots, holding that such action would prevent any terrorist from every succeeding in taking down a commercial airline.

"Without a handgun to defend it, the cockpit crew is easily defeated," Dr. Piazza said in the article. "However, when both pilot and co-pilot are armed and trained ... they have the tools, ability, and will to defend themselves and repel the murderous intent of terrorists." Nothing but firearms training can give our pilots what's needed to prevent the death of their passengers, nothing but Front Sight's training is enough. Dr. Piazza is aware of both these facts, which is why he is offering firearms training to any licensed, commercial pilot for free.
